Privacy notice

Last updated: 9 October 2026

This notice explains what personal data JobsNearMe.ie collects, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and your rights. We keep it short and only collect what we need to run the site.

Who we are

JobsNearMe.ie is run by Jobs Near Me IE, 17 Dame St, Dublin 2, Ireland. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact us about anything in this notice at info@jobsnearme.ie.

What we collect and why

1. When you apply for a job

  • What: your name, email address, phone number, town or area, recent experience, availability, whether you have the right to work in Ireland, any note or written answer you add, and a one-way coded version of your internet connection’s address (we don’t store the address itself).
  • Why: to send your application to the employer you chose, to confirm it’s really you (the 6-digit email code), and to prevent spam, fraud and duplicate applications.
  • Legal basis: taking the steps you asked us to take (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in keeping the site free of spam and fraud (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Who sees it: only the employer of the job you applied to. That employer then becomes responsible for your data as its own controller, under its own privacy policy.
  • Kept for: 90 days, then deleted automatically. Ask us to delete it sooner by replying to any of our emails.

2. Automatic spam and fraud checks on applications

Every confirmed application is checked automatically before it reaches the employer: first by fixed rules (for example, link shorteners or requests for money or passwords), then by an AI model. The AI sees your name, the domain of your email address (the part after the @, not the whole address), your town and what you wrote. It never sees your phone number or full email address. Applications that are clearly spam, scams, phishing, abuse or gibberish are not sent on. This is automated decision-making: if you think your application was blocked by mistake, email us and a person will review it and can send it on.

3. Employers

  • What: your work email address, company name, the jobs you post and, if you buy a paid service, a reference to your saved card at Stripe (we never see or store card numbers).
  • Why: to give you an account, publish and check your jobs, send you applicants and bill paid services.
  • Legal basis: our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b)) and legal obligations such as keeping tax records (Art. 6(1)(c)).
  • Kept for: while your account is active; billing records for 6 years, as Irish tax law requires.

Job adverts are checked automatically (rules and AI) for scams, phishing, spam, inappropriate content and discriminatory wording before they’re published. See our Terms for how this works and how to ask for a review.

4. Job alerts

  • What: your email address and the search you saved (keywords, place, distance, how often).
  • Why and basis: to send the alerts you asked for, with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). Every alert has a one-click unsubscribe.
  • Kept for: until you unsubscribe. Sign-ups never confirmed are deleted after 7 days.

5. Reports about a job

If you use “Report this job”, we keep your report and, if you give it, your email address so we can reply. Basis: our legitimate interest and our duties as a hosting service under the EU Digital Services Act. Kept for 12 months.

6. Using the site

We count job views and searches to show popular jobs and improve the site. Searches are stored without any personal data. We don’t use advertising cookies or tracking analytics. See our Cookie notice.

Who we share data with

We use these service providers, who process data only on our instructions:

  • Hostinger – website hosting (servers in the USA; transfers are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses).
  • Brevo (France) – sending our emails.
  • Stripe (Ireland) – card payments for employers.
  • Anthropic (USA) – the AI that checks applications and job adverts and writes job summaries. Transfers are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Anthropic does not use data sent through its business API to train its models.
  • Meta Platforms Ireland – if an employer buys a Social Boost, we run an ad for the job on Facebook and Instagram. No applicant data is shared with Meta.

We never sell personal data. We share it with authorities only when the law requires.

Jobs from other websites

Some jobs come from employers’ careers pages and partner job sites. When you click “Apply” on those, you go to that site and its privacy policy applies. If an imported advert contains a recruiter’s name or contact details, those come from the public advert; recruiters can ask us to remove them.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent (job alerts), you can withdraw it at any time. Email info@jobsnearme.ie; we’ll reply within one month. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission: www.dataprotection.ie.

Security

The site uses HTTPS, applicant details are only reachable through private signed links, and access to our systems is limited to the site owner.

Changes

If we change this notice we’ll update the date above, and tell registered employers by email about important changes.
